1. Matters Arising

Alan has implemented code for parsing Stockholm format sequence files in HMMER 2.2. He has been helping Tim with native interface to EMBOSS and setting up a SOAP server. He reported that Tim, Lisa and himself are going to the Vienna meeting to talk about EMBOSS.
He mentioned that Mac have offered a loan machine with Mac OS for 8 weeks and we all agreed how a machine could not be supported for such a short length of time. He reported how IBM have provided temporary access to a porting centre with AIX and how they will soon provide a m/c on loan.

Jon has started work on porting his pdb parser to EMBOSS.

Lisa has been rewriting the introductory course for JEMBOSS. She reported that the dan dna melting program needs updating (with a new algorithm). She said that she will talk about the introductory course, emboss applications and use of the command line at a forthcoming courswe in Vienna.

Tim has been coding jemboss and rewriting the soap server in java.

Claude has started work on corba for emboss. He mentioned that the corba server should serve xml data and that the idl should be produced directly from the acd.

Peter has developed the report code so that it is now possible for applications to generate reports rather than output files. He has implemented handling of alignment formats (msf and simple format). He has developed report formats for list files and functions for copying feature tables.

Thomas has been preparing an EMBOSS talk to present at his Uni. He has been working on EMBOSS integration into SRS and has been modifying acd files with sections and subsections with Tim.
