EMBOSS: Project Meeting (Jul 26th 1999)

Attendees

Sanger Centre: Peter Rice, Ian Longden
HGMP: Alan Bleasby, Gary Williams, Jon Ison, Sinead O'Leary
EBI:

1. Matters Arising

None.

2. General progress on release 0.0.4

Alan is implementing Z-scores for searches.

Peter proposed an eventual "azscore" ACD qualifier for alignment output as part of the scheme to have abbreviated qualifiers for the pharmacuetical company names.

Peter has renamed "splitseq" to "splitter" to avoid a name clash with the Staden package.

There is a problem with 'smart quotes' in the ACD documentation on the Web, which conversion from MS-Word turns into question marks. Peter will edit them out by hand.

The "embplot" directory is no longer needed and can be removed.

Secure shell is working again between HGMP and Sanger.

Jon proposed looking into adding EMBOSS to disGUIse as part of CCP11. This should be a good test case for converting ACD files into an alternative interface definition.

Alan has added random number functions to the AJAX maths routines.

Alan had added "AND" and "OR" functions to the ACD operations.

Alan is testing a build of EMBOSS under AIX. There are some problems with compiling the plplot code.

Gary has updated "wossname" and "pasteseq", and documented "wossname".

Gary mailed suggestions for updating application brief descriptions and groups to the mailing list, and is waiting for comments.

There are extra genetic code files under emboss/data which can be deleted. Only the NCBI GC.n files are used by "transeq".
