1. Matters Arising
None
2. General progress on release 0.0.4
The problem with the "alphaev6" host type has been resolved
3. Beta Release
Peter is adding code to use Blast 1.4 and Blast 2.0 format indices as
databases in EMBOSS, and also GCG databases using code from Bill Pearson.
Both will produce EMBLCD/Staden style index files for entry and query access.
4. PLPLOT Graphics Library
The EMBOSS_GRAPHICS variable has been added as the default graphics device.
ACD files need to be updated to make sure they use the default device.
5. Any Other Business
5.1 Interfaces
HGMP are revising their introduction to sequence analysis course, and
will drop the GCG package. They need to reaplace it with a GUI-driven
package so EMBOSS will need a Web or other GUI interface to be included.
Possible interfaces include www2gcg, W2H, AppLab, DisGUIse, SeqPup,
PISE. Thon de Boer will look into these to see which could be best
for HGMP users. Peter will mail a list of URLs for the interfaces to
Thon and to Val.
5.2 CCP11 Course
There is a CCP11 course "Getting the Most from Your Sequence" on
November 2-3 which includes a talk on EMBOSS (by Peter) and a
practical/demonstration session. Val will work on Alessandro's
documentation as a guide for the second session.
6. Next meeting
Next meeting Monday 25th October, 11:00am, usual place.
Peter will be absent.
